Boil Water Notice Cancelled For Blue Mound

July 27, 2012— SouthWest Water Company, parent company of Monarch Utilities I, L.P., today has cancelled the boil water notice and lifted Stage 4 water restrictions for its customers on the Blue Mound public water system - PWS ID 2200005. The utility has also returned Blue Mound customers to Stage 1 water restrictions, which are typical during the summer.

Monarch officials cancelled the Boil Water Notice at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, after tests results from an independent lab showed the water is safe to drink without boiling.

One of three wells servicing customers in Blue Mound failed. This interruption in the water supply, coupled with increased demand on the system - typical in summer months - caused the pressure to drop.

Monarch invested $100,000 to install a new pump on Wednesday, July 25. Although pressure in the system quickly stabilized, in an abundance of caution Monarch issued a boil water notice on Wednesday, July 25 while waiting for test results from water samples.

“We are proud of the company’s swift response in investigating the well failure and putting in a new pump; many, many staff members have worked around-the-clock to have the pump installed so expeditiously,” Ryan Quigley, Director of Operations, Texas Utilities West, said. “We apologize to customers for this inconvenience, and we are pleased to return to our typical uninterrupted service.”

Customers with questions may call Monarch Utilities’ Customer Care Center                at 1-866-654-7992.
